Here are a few steps for avoiding bad sitting posture that you should keep in mind as well.

You must avoid sitting on your tailbone. The tailbone is the bottom bone of the spine. If you sit on it for any length of time, this can cause stiffness, soreness and pain. You should always sit squarely on your buttocks.

Your sit bones, which are part of the hipbone, which is covered by the muscles of the buttock, are the two bones that should bear the most weight while you are sitting. They are better equipped to sustain your body weight than is the tailbone. While sitting, you should sit squarely and not lean to far forward or too far backwards.

Look at where your shoulders are right now, as you read these words. Are they hunched forward? Chances are good that if you are working at a computer or work station that your shoulders are curled forward and in. This will cause tension in your shoulders and it will have a regular impact on the way that you look and feel.

Widen your shoulders and then pull them backwards. Although, this may feel a sit strange at first, with daily practice this posture will begin to feel normal to you. You may choose to do some exercises that will help loosen the strain of a rounded shoulder posture. Doing so will make a big difference.

Are you craning your neck? This happens regularly while you hunch over peering at a computer screen. This will tension the back of the neck by causing strain in that area. You may be able to solve this problem by repositioning your computer screen.

For instance, if you have a flat screen computer monitor that you need to keep your chin tucked down to read, it might be time for you to put the screen up on a sand. Figure out where your correct neck posture is.

Do you round your lower back? You may be rounding your lower back while you are sitting in a hard, straight back chair with a 90-degree angle from the seat. The result is bending to far forward to support your back. What you need is a good ergonomic chair. While sitting in it, make sure that the seat is tilted slightly forward.

These tips may be hard to keep in mind, depending on your levels of strength, flexibility and body awareness. Joining a program centered on body awareness, strength, relaxation and flexibility can help you relieve the pain you feel when using poor sitting postures. Such programs do not take much time at all and they will aid you in finding relieve from the back pain you suffer while improperly sitting.

Improving your posture offers you many benefits, including better health, more energy, better relaxation and the freedom from the back pain your suffer. It will also help to improve your overall general well-being. Think of what it will mean to you to be free of the nagging tension and pain you feel right now.
