Soniccare Toothbrushes – Do They Really Help You Get Whiter Teeth?

Oral hygiene is something that more and more studies show is tightly linked with our overall health and well being. If your mouth is sick, that means YOU are sick! So make sure you are taking care of your teeth and gums with a good brushing, flossing and fluoride treatments.

One secret ingredient that many lazy brushers have been benefiting from for years is the flouride many municipalities put into the public water supply. Flouride is a mineral like calcium and after 50 years of testing has been proven as a safe addition to drinking water. Cities who have flouridated water have seen a marked decrease in the number of cavities for people, especially children, living in those areas. Make sure you’re getting enough flouride by swishing with a flouride rinse in the evenings if you don’t drink water, or only drink bottled water.

Most people brush, and getting flouride through the water supply is easy, but have you thought about flossing? Your dentist probably tells you that you need to floss every time you go see him. And he’s right, you should. Flossing is really not that hard, once you establish the habit. It takes maybe 60 seconds. If flossing is uncomfortable for you, consider using a waxed floss or flossing “tape” that is especially narrow and easy to slide through your teeth.

The most recent change I have made in my dental hygiene routine is switching over to a sonic care toothbrush. Although I liked giving my pearly whites a good workout with the free toothbrush from the dentist, I started seeing a lot of electric toothbrushes around and started to wonder if I was missing something. After all – the speed of the brush heads on those electric toothbrushes made me think I could be getting a lot more RPM’s on my teeth if I were using one.

When I asked my personal dentist if I should be using a sonic care toothbrush, his answer was a resounding yes. Other people in my family had been using about them, and I read about them in consumer reports. The data panned out so I decided to invest in a sonic toothbrush.

The sonic toothbrush I used was a lot of fun to brush with. It made a bit of a loud vibrating noise, but I felt like that was good because “I could tell it was working.” Even better, it was working on making my teeth whiter too. Whiter teeth, as well as a healthy mouth, was really my primary goal. (Hey, I can admit it!)

If you want the whitest smile and the healthiest teeth, I strongly encourage you to adopt the oral health routine my dentist laid out for me: Flouride, Flossing, Brushing with a Sonic Toothbrush, and Regular Dental Exams. None if it is hard, and it’s the right thing to do for your health and your smile.

When you think about it, taking good care of your teeth only takes a few minutes each day. When you consider how long your teeth will be with you, it makes sense to keep them in top condition now and down the road.
