To Cure Excessive Sweating You Need to Understand It

As with any other type of medical condition, there are different degrees of severity with excessive sweating. While some may begin to sweat profusely under pressure or under a large amount of stress others sweat around the clock. In order to find appropriate cures for excessive sweating, you need to know the degree of severity you are facing.

Ideally, in order to determine what the best cure for your condition is, you’ll need to take a close look at the symptoms, in that it is the symptoms that can provide you with some insight as to what action you need to take.

Look at how often you find yourself sweating out of the ordinary. If you sweat in pressure situations or when you are stressed out, a simple prescription or over-the-counter antiperspirant may be all you need. However, if you are sweating day and night regardless of the situation, surgery may be in the plans.

Apart from the sweating, you also need to pay attention to any other symptoms which you may be experiencing. For example, do you tend to get light headed, or do you often have headaches? Perhaps you have even fainted on one or two occasions, and these are all symptoms which will need to be taken into consideration as far as finding a suitable cure is concerned.

Essentially, there are three different degrees in terms of cures for excessive sweating. The first line of defense would involve some OTC antiperspirant or perhaps even some prescription antiperspirant. For anyone with a relatively mild condition, this should be enough to get the job done.

The second level would involve the use of Botox or Iontophoresis. Iontophoresis is essentially a procedure where the affected area is placed in water prior to receiving a mild electric shock. Botox on the other hand is a substance which has only recently been approved by the FDA, but so far it has proved to be very effective. Those being treated with Botox will usually have small amounts injected into the armpits, and the results tend to last for several months.

The last option, and also the most severe, involves the use of surgery. For obvious reasons, this should always be the last option, irrespective of the problem. However, you need to bear in mind that it is sometimes the only option that will get the job done. Cervical sympathectomy, which is the term given to the procedure, is without a doubt very effective, but of course it’s a procedure which should be reserved only for those with a severe problem.
